Distressed Load Repair
Blocking & Bracing of Hazardous Material Loads
When Hazardous loads move via Rail, specific and critical loading methods, and blocking and bracing methods must be used. The U.S. Coast Guard has similar requirements for oceangoing shipments as well. GSL people have been trained in these procedures and can provide this service either at our facility, or at the Rail Facilities in Southern California.
Blocking and Bracing of Flatbed Movements
The rail ramps in Southern California typically allow flat rack loads to be ingated, subject to the approval of their mechanical inspector. GSL is certified to make corrections to these loads at the rail facilities. You may be able to control costs better by bringing these types of loads to our facility where they can be corrected on site.
Legalize Overweight Loads
Many containers arriving our country are overweight either on the nose, on the tail, or over the gross legal carrying capacity of the highway system. GSL is on the extended overweight corridor and heavy loads can be brought to our facility to be adjusted. If the loads are not cleared customs, we move them under our bond, and do what's necessary to make them legal (bags of helium in an overweight load just don't help!!). If you or your trucker is caught at a local scale, or portable scale and forced to reduce your load on the spot, call us immediately. We'll send the mobile crew!
Adjusting Leaning Loads
We all know that freight grows legs and walks if left unattended, but it also walks in rail containers enroute if it's not secured. Our mobile crew takes equipment and people onsite at the rail yards to correct these loads. Call Stan Davis if this ever happens to you!
